Disney’s newer private island day, on the southern tip of Eleuthera
Lookout Cay is Disney’s newer private island day, on the southern tip of Eleuthera. Castaway Cay is the one people already have opinions about. This is the one they keep asking us to explain.
The ship ties up. You walk off an eco-friendly pier. The water is that pale Eleuthera turquoise on one side and the darker Atlantic on the other. Disney built the place with Bahamian artists, historians and cultural ambassadors, and it shows — the day is as much Goombay and Junkanoo as it is beach chairs.

Disney is unusually plain about this.

Bring a government-issued photo ID or passport if you are 18 or older. Disney says you need it to go ashore and to get back on the ship.
Beaches
Family Beach
This is the main stretch. Chairs, umbrellas, food, the splash pad and the water-play area are all on this side of the day. Disney’s own note is worth reading before you pack the snorkel: swimming and other water time can be limited or shut down for weather, currents or marine life.
Serenity Bay
Adults-only, set apart, with its own BBQ. If you came for quiet, this is the beach. Cabanas, when you can get one, are here — not on the family sand.
How the island is laid out
You do not tender. The ship docks. The walk down the pier is the first thing people underestimate.
Mabrika Cove
The arrival area at the island end of that pier. Guests who need help getting down the pier can ask Guest Services about the accessible cart shuttle. It is first-come, first-served, and it is reserved for guests with disabilities.
Goombay Cultural Center
A tram runs between Mabrika Cove and the Goombay Cultural Center. Disney says it takes personal and electric wheelchairs, not sand wheelchairs. If you can walk it and want to, you can. If it is August and you are carrying a toddler, take the tram. Goombay sits in the middle of the place — crafts, culture, the spot you will keep passing.
The lighthouse trail
The nature trail continues out to the lighthouse. Wear real shoes for that one. Disney suggests using your phone for the points of interest along the way.
Kids’ areas
Sebastian’s Cove
The Little Mermaid splash pad — Ariel’s grotto, on purpose — with Disney youth counselors on the island. Parents who want Serenity Bay can hand kids over here the same way they would at the Oceaneer Club.
Rush Out Gush Out
The family water-play zone: fountains, water drums, two corkscrew slides. It is included. The line is the only tax.
The Fun in the Sun Beach Bash is the character hour on the sand: Goofy doing limbo, Chip ’n’ Dale in the water, Pluto with a ring toss, Bahamian arrangements of songs you already know.
Dining
True-True BBQ
FREEThe family buffets, with True-True BBQ Too. Disney calls out grilled food and Bahamian-inspired sides, plantains included. Soft-serve is its own destination, and it is free.
Serenity Bay BBQ
FREEThe adult-exclusive version of the same idea: grilled food, quieter tables, the adult beach next to it.
That is lunch. You do not need a reservation for the included BBQ. You do need money on the account if you peel off to a smoothie stand.
The four bars

All four are extra, same as a bar on the ship. Soft drinks at the included stations are still the free option.
Sandsational Smoothies does frozen smoothies and tropical teas. Mangos & Go is grab-and-go: specialty coffee, cold brew, Dole Whip. Prices vary. Disney does not publish a menu we can quote.
Cabanas
Official copy mentions private Serenity Bay Cabanas, additional charge, reserved when your booking window opens. That is the entire public price list: there isn’t one.
If you want one, treat it like a Castaway cabana and be at the keyboard when your window opens. First-timers book activities 75 days out; Silver 90; Gold 105; Platinum 120; Pearl 123; Concierge can go earlier through Shoreside Concierge. Official windows live on Disney’s activities FAQ.

Culture, shops, the lighthouse
The Goombay Cultural Center is the reason Lookout Cay does not feel like a second Castaway with a paint swap. It is the arts and culture pavilion — the place Disney built with Bahamian partners.
RUSH! is the Junkanoo celebration on the island. You will hear it.

Rents snorkel gear. Disney also lists wagon rentals, life jackets and floats as paid. Personal wagons, personal floats, drones and fishing gear are on the prohibited list.
The lighthouse trail is self-guided and included. It is a walk, not a tram stop with a gift shop at the end.

If you want the island day you already paid for, you can skip every one of these. The beach, the BBQ, the slides and Goombay are the fare.
Practical notes
- ID. 18+ needs a passport or government photo ID to leave the ship and to reboard.
- Pier. It is a walk. Use the disability shuttle if that is you; do not treat it as a stroller taxi.
- Tram. Mabrika Cove ↔ Goombay. Sand wheelchairs do not roll on it.
- Leave the drone, the fishing rod, the inflatable you bought at Target, and the collapsible wagon in the stateroom. Disney lists them as prohibited. They rent wagons on the island.
- Florida ports. Official departure ports for itineraries that include Lookout Cay are Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale. Check the tracker for which sailing actually stops here.
No cash required for the included BBQ and chairs. A stateroom key for the bars, the cabana and the rentals. That is the whole economy.
Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay?
Plenty of Bahamas sailings now do both. Castaway is the older, more mapped island — snorkel lagoon, Pelican Plunge, the tram to Serenity Bay. Lookout is Eleuthera, culture-first, newer infrastructure, a lighthouse walk.
If you only have one private-island day, read both this page and the Castaway Cay guide and pick the sailing for the island you actually want. If you have both, do not book a paid beach excursion in Nassau the day before and then wonder why the kids are done with sand. That is the Nassau skip-or-book list.
